Prince William County Solid Waste Division

The Solid Waste Division is the County agency responsible for the oversight of the County's solid waste management system. Responsibilities include:

Coordination of solid waste planning in the County including maintaining the County's 20-year comprehensive solid waste management plan.
Operation of the Prince William County Sanitary Landfill and the Balls Ford Road Compost Facility.
Permits approximately 20 private waste haulers that collect refuse and recycling within the county.
Operates 16 residential recycling drop-off trailers.

The Division is funded by a Solid Waste Fee and has 59 full-time personnel and an annual operating budget of $25,487,567 (FY 12 adopted).
