 The Solid Waste Division is the County agency responsible for the oversight of the County's solid waste management system. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of solid waste planning in the County including maintaining the County's 20-year comprehensive solid waste management plan.
  • Operation of the Prince William County Sanitary Landfill and the Balls Ford Road Compost Facility.
  • Permits approximately 20 private waste haulers that collect refuse and recycling within the county.
  • Operates 16 residential recycling drop-off trailers.
The Division is funded by a Solid Waste Fee and has 59 full-time personnel and an annual operating budget of $25,487,567 (FY 12 adopted).
